The month of March was a rich journey through celebrations from around the world.

An exciting journey through colors, flavors, songs, dances, and stories that blossomed in the blossoming of the Japanese cherry trees and our garden.
But it was also a month of art, culture, and social reflection.

Celebration – Holi
March 8, 2023 – The entire school gathered to celebrate the Holi Festival (or Festival of Colors), the most famous Indian festival in the world. It is a hymn to joy during which we abandon all sadness and embrace life in all its beauty. We like to think that the color thrown on our faces erases all differences and at the same time makes us unique. All different, all equal. The traditional throwing of colors concluded a day of celebrations and a broader period that encompassed many aspects: stories from India, calligraphy practice, and the tasting of the traditional festive lunch. For us, this is the right to globality: to explore, to know, to understand, to respect, to choose.

International Women's Day – Women Running
March 8, 2023 – On the occasion of International Women's Day, a delegation of our staff (the vast majority of which are Italian and international women under 40) and mothers of school children participated in the "Women Running" event – 10th EDITION. It was a wonderful opportunity for sharing and fellowship, symbolizing the central issues of International Women's Day: emancipation, social, economic, and political achievements, gender equality, reproductive rights, discrimination, and violence against women.

Field Trip to Galleria delle Arti di Modena. Circularity – Graffiti Exhibition by Giorgio Mussati,
March 9, 2023 – Following the Banksy – Jago – TvBoy exhibition at Palazzo Albergati last month, the interest in street art among the children in our 5-6 year old class has continued to grow. When Giorgio Mussati, a street artist the children met at the end of the last school year, told us about his temporary exhibition here in Modena, we couldn't help but jump at the opportunity!
Giorgio Mussati himself welcomed the children into the exhibition space and discussed the works on display with them.

Celebration – Saint Patrick's Day
March 17, 2023 – Another celebration from around the world was the traditional Saint Patrick's Day celebration! Our school, from nursery to fifth grade, was overwhelmed by a wave of shamrock green, traditional Irish dancing, and legendary storytelling!

Field Trip to Gallerie Estensi. Guided Tour "The Face of Emotions"
March 29, 2023 – In accordance with the Arte e Immagine program and to further explore the portrait project that all five classes are undertaking with atelierista Marco, all elementary school classes have decided to participate in a tour of the Galleria Estense in Modena.
The "The Face of Emotions" tour focuses on the representation of emotions and feelings in artwork, highlighting how artists have been able, over time, to express states of mind without resorting to words. The goal is to help young visitors gain a greater awareness of themselves and how the face can reflect our feelings. The theme of representing ourselves and others through observation is explored again in this hands-on workshop where children come face-to-face with famous portraits and ancient masterpieces.

Celebration – Japanese Cherry Blossom
March 31, 2023 – This eventful month concluded with the Japanese Cherry Blossom celebration.
Japanese sakura trees typically bloom between late March and early April, and their popularity is due to many factors, including their symbolic value: the blossoming branches resemble clouds of petals covering the trees, only to suddenly disappear like clouds blown away by the wind, a symbol of transience, the transitory nature of life, and renewal. A new season arrives, full of beauty and discovery. Our children welcomed the beginning of spring with a bright day of celebration! In the charming setting of our centuries-old garden, a sushi-making station, an exhibition of the children's artwork, and a storytelling corner were set up. A grand picnic under the warm March sun, accompanied by the piano music of Maestro Alberto Dolfi, brought the entire school together to enjoy Japanese specialties lovingly prepared by our chef Stefano.
