2023 is off to a great start for the children of EducatioNest! January was a month packed with events, meetings, and explorations.

Let's retrace together this period so full of wonders.

January 21, 2023 – Happy Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year celebrations have become a tradition at our school. Like every year, all the children at the school immersed themselves in Chinese culture and traditions during the week, awaiting the grand parade on Friday, learning about the history of the celebration. Then, on Friday the 21st, New Year's Eve, our chef Stefano prepared a special lunch menu. The celebrations concluded in the afternoon, with the two hundred and fifty children from EducatioNest, accompanied by all the school staff, who paraded with songs and dances, carrying our Lóng 龙, the red dragon that arrived here from faraway China.
The parade began in our school garden and concluded with a grand dance with the school families, who awaited the dragon's arrival in Piazza Roma. It was a wonderful moment of reunion and celebration for our school community.

February 4, 2023 – Tea Ceremony (茶文化)
Chinese New Year celebrations typically last 16 days and conclude on the Lantern Festival, so on Friday, February 4th, we closed out the New Year with a Tea Ceremony. During the day, the children participated in the traditional ceremony, tasting a selection of traditional teas. All the children were able to explore the aromas and sensations that tea leaves offer, listen to stories and tales about the centrality of chá (茶) tea in Chinese culture, and then taste the different varieties offered. In the afternoon, the ceremony was also open to parents, who, thanks to the children's precise instructions, were guided through the tasting experience.

January 26, 2023 – Visit to the Jago-Banksy-TVBoy and Other Countercurrent Stories Exhibition.
Our preschool 5/6-year-olds' visit to the JAGO-BANKSY-TVBOY AND OTHER COUNTERCURRENT STORIES exhibition (Palazzo Albergati, Bologna) was part of the cross-sectional project on graffiti culture and technique. Accompanied by teachers and atelieristas, the children traveled by bus to the exhibition site and then toured the exhibition thoroughly with the help of a dedicated guide. Questions, wonder, and interest permeated the halls of Palazzo Albergati. All the emotions the children experienced were inspiring, and at the end of the visit, everyone was able to put their creativity to the test and create their own graffiti. The morning concluded with a well-deserved lunch at a pizzeria!

January 27, 2023 – Holocaust Remembrance Day.
On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, each preschool and elementary school class addressed this important topic through reflections, stories, and testimonies. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes at the elementary school attended a captivating screening of the animated film "Where is Anne Frank?" (Ari Folman, 2021). Following the screening, they discussed the film's impressions and sadly still relevant themes with their classmates and teachers.
As always, the sensitivity and depth of our children served as an example to all of us.
